Series I'm Loving Now: Project Runway

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I love this show so much! Not only because its hosted by my favorite Heidi Klum but also becasue they have really great and unique challenges. In the first season, my favorite was Kara Saun. She was consistently good and original throughout all the challenges. I also really loved her collection for the fashion show. It still bothers me that she didn't end up winning. I think there was a shoe issue... Am I right? I also liked the feel of Austin Scarlett's clothes. I liked his flare and the way his clothes were so flowy and dramatic. I'd have to agree though that most of his closthes looked closely similar....Maybe he wasn't ready yet....On the other hand, I hate Wendy Pepper sooo much. She was vile, a user and backstabber. She reminded me of the antagonist in 101Dalmatians.....
In the second season, I had a lot of faves namely, Nick Verreos, Chloe Dao and Daniel Vosovic. My ultimate fave however would have to be Chloe Dao. Again she was consistent and really understood the clothes she was making and more importantly she understood a woman's body.

Series I'm Loving Now: Monk

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It's extremely hilarious. Adrian Monk, the main character has 101 phobias and yet he always manages to solve the crim rendering all his colleagues clueless. I love that he always has to use a wipe after shaking hands with someone. I also love the way he's so devoted to Sierra Springs bottled water only. Funny Funny Funny. There have been 5 hilarious seasons now... And I've loved them all!!! One comment though, is that I prefer Sharona as his assistant than Natalie.

Part 5: Cafe Mediterranean (dessert only)

Powerplant Branch

We just can't get enough sweets! We tried to give their dessert a shot, and not bad I think!

Crema Catalana
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Your basic creme brulee, only this had a loooot if cinnamon in it...

Tartufo al Cioccolato
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Ok. It would be very hard to top that chocolate creme brulee in Kulinarya. My take on this might have been biased. so....

Part 4: Myron's

For our main date, we decided to go here. Ever since the steak bloggin craze started, we knew we wanted to try this place right away. As luck would have it, an "excuse" came up. Great food! Myron's should be known not only for their steaks but for the other dishes as well, most especially the oysters!

Baked Oysters Rockefeller (Php 295)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Great! Fresh as fresh can be! It was so tender and the cheese really melts in your mouth. The bacon bits were a nice touch. Baked to perfection. It was almost as if we weren't eating oysters anymore! Really good.

Farfalle with Smoked Salmon and Asparagus (Php 280)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Good. Again I was so happy that the salmon was fresh and hardly had any of those black parts I hate. The asparagus was a great taste contrast. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Big enough to share. Worth it's price.

Louie's Choice (Php 1050)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Yes. Quite pricey but "minsan lang naman eh"... Great steak. We had ours well done and yet it was still moist and juicy. The foie gras was tender. Hmm.... it's taste kinda reminded me of fat which I hate (don't eat it at all) yet I kept eating because I couldn't believe that it was liver.... I so wish pork and chicken liver tasted like that too! All in all though, I don't think it's my thing...
We got the Shiraz Cabernet- Shallot Jus sauce which the server recommened. Nothing spectacular that I noticed.... Well, I couldn't really taste the Cabernet.
Moreover, we also enjoyed the sidings that came with the steak. Most especially the baked garlic clove. I don't think you could call that garlic anymore....It was really chewy and once again baked to perfection.

Red Plum Shake (Php 90)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I like finely shaved ice. The shake was definitely refreshing. But before I judge it, I think I'd better try the other shakes available. But this one I think is a little too "mapakla" (acrid?) for me...

Will go back. Most definitely for the oysters and to try the salads and other pastas.

Part 3: Kulinarya

Powerplant, Rockwell

Because I had to avoid an ugly figure from my past, someone I'm still so frightened of, inspite of not having any conncetion with her anymore, we had to go in here.

Chocolate Creme Brulee (Php 130)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
YUMMMMMM!!!!!! It was an accident that we went here but I was so glad that the food dessert was great! It was so richly chocolate and inspite of it being all cream, I couldn't help but feel as if though I was gonna taste some cake any second now! Real good.

Block end of sem thing really. Had loads of fun, even if I wasn't able to join their karaoke session...

*sorry, was not able to get the exact names*

Part 1 of 2nd Anniversary Date: Mr. Choi's Kitchen

Found in Robinson's Galleria.

It was 3pm. Just finished having a terrific haircut and had not eaten anything since last night. We wanted to have something light and when we stumbled upon Mr. Choi's Kitchen, we decided to try their dimsum. Instead we ended up having these:

Lapu-Lapu Cheese Sauce Breakfast
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Yum.But oh the horror..Calories upon calories! The cheese sauce was poured on top of the rice and lapu-lapu. I can't help but think that the cheese sauce had some
'extenders' in it. The lapu-lapu without the cheese was as bland as paper.

Radish Cake
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I love radish cake. I was disappointed that this wasn't toasted. So, I still prefer Luk Yuen's Radish Cake I guess.

TOSH 3

Libis branch...

Before anything else, I'd like to say that this TOSH experience was not it my "suki" branch and because of what has happened, I have sworn off not to go to ANY TOSH restaurants for sometime.
When we got there, the waiters were all at the back/kitchen chitchatting. We sat a long time waiting to be served. It was 4pm and I could understand their lack of energy to be attentive. There were other people at the restaurant at that time. After being given the menu, it was very long before they came back to take our order. I had to wave my hand and shout to get their attention. They were all chitchatting at the bar. We got a bottomless iced tea. Inspite of having several customers there, they did not have the iced tea ready and had to mix it PER refill asked. I was already getting irrate. I also got coffee which they forgot to serve until I reminded them that I had ordered. Then the orders came, in the wrong order. Pasta,Salad,Pizza. At about 2 minutes apart. So really, there was hardly anytime for us to be able to savor the food without being disturbed. So we had the salad first naturally and by the time we got to the pasta, it was already starting to "sebo"...bad bad bad...By the end of our meal, I needed a water refill and no one was looking in our direction. So I had a sip of my friend's bottomless iced tea. When we finally got someone's attention and indicated that we wanted water and iced tea refills, the waitress says to us "Maam, last refill niyo na daw po ito dahil nagsheshare kayo ng iced tea ni sir". The nerve!!!!!! So we didn't touch the water and iced tea anymore, paid the bill and left....I won't be going back to any TOSH anytime soon.....

What we had:

asian chicken salad with mangoes & oranges
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Really just a cream pesto sauce with some mangoes. I have no idea where the "orange" part of the dish was. There was too little lettuce for the amount of dressing in the dish. Or maybe too much dressing in the lettuce. I don't know.....Nothing special.

penne with gorgonzal cheese sauce
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I thought that it would at least have somethin else in it. But no. It was just pasta smothered in gorgonzola cheese. I can at least say they used authentic gorgonzola.

pesto pizza
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It was served sizzling in the hot plate. I think this was a stone-baked pizza. The ingredients were generous and if you look closely, you'll notice that the ingredients were equally placed. I can't help thinking that the cook spent some time strategizing on where to best put the mushroom, olive and tomatoes. The pizza is so symmetric!!!!

P.S. this one wiater kept giving me dagger looks everytime I took pictures of the food. it was MY food. i have everyright to take pictures of it. i'm paying for it. had they treated me well, it would even have been free publcity for them!!!

TOSH 2

I loved my last meal so much, I came back in a week's time!

chicken tequila fettucine
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Great. I actually think that it's comparible to CPK's Chicken Tequila! You could really detect that splash of Tequila and there was a generous amount of chicken.

fish fillet amandine
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The fish was coated in a light batter then rolled onto thin almond slices. Again the nachos were a distraction.

'carbonarra' ice cream
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
All it really is, is vanilla ice cream made to look like pasta with caramel syrup made to look like cheese, some walnuts to look like the meat and broas to resembl garlic bread. Very plain. Very boring. Not worth the money for the serving.

TOSH 1

In my 3 1/2 year stay in Ateneo, I have always gone to TOSH (The Old Spaghetti House) for comfort food. After an exam, after hell week or after a fight with a close friend. I always end up goin here. Inspite of that, this was the first time I was able to take pictures of my food and I'd like to share it with you.

pork scallopine with wild mushroom sauce
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This was surprisingly good. It was my first time to try their dishes with rice and was really impressed. The pork was tender and tasted really great with the mushroom and sauce. The best part was that it was lean!!!! I'd have this again and again and again. I wish they didn't serve the chips anymore. It looked so lonely there with hardly any salsa and didn't really go well with the food.

spaghetti hamon ritaglio
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Creamy....yumm... Basically, it tasted like your everyday carbonarra but this had blocks (yes blocks) of quezo de bola and majestic ham (which i adore. It was very filling.

creme brulee trio (Php 68 i think)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
New dessert. There was the classic, citrus and chocolate. Personally, I think there was something off with the citrus variant and the classic tasted more like Leche Flan than creme brulee. But for the price, I guess it was good enough.

Jack's Loft 2

I love the place for it's food, but have been sadly disappointed by their food lately.

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich Php155
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Great sandwich. You could actually split it with someone else since it was really big and filling. The sandwich was "well-stuffed". The chips that went with it were thin and crisp and lighlty salted.

Penne in Tomato Cream Sauce Php158
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This was interesting. The cream and spice mesh well, great balance. This dish can become addiciting. I suggest you try it at the very least. I think I'd be willing to go back for this.

Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake Php88
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Ok. Disappointed. The mousse was a hard and more gelatin like. Could not taste any traces of chocolate. Could not taste the oreo crust either. And I strongly suspect that this was an old old slice already. The sides fo the cake had already hardened.

Who I'm Loving Now: Jennifer Garner

I love her to pieces. I was so sad when she decided to leave Alias, thus it's demise. I loved her in 13 going on 30 and in elektra... After giving birth to Baby Violet, I'm so glad to see her up and about doing what they do best...Dress up and party!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Italliani's

Kudos to Italliani's for staying open inspite of the Typhoon Milenyo. Take note that there was no electircity and water in the area so it was a miracle that they were able to stay open.

Beef Salad

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Basically the same as the well-known sicilian salad, but this has beef and tomatoes. A welcome chagne I guess. The meat was bland although tender and juicy. Try to get a little bit of everything in each bite.

shrimp fra diablo
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My fave pasta in the place. It's spiciness is just right to give your taste palettes the perfect kick. The shrimp is sooo fresh you could almost say it was crunchy.
I have to admit though, that it is unreasonably overpriced. You could tell that all the ingredients used were of the freshest and choicest quality but I think they're charging way too much. I could already get two to three good pasta dishes for the price of this one. Nevertheless, I like to have it one in awhile since it's really yummy (I rest my case).

Misato's Crazy Maki

Their supposed to be famous for their Crazy Maki and now I know why. This was really great. You'll actually have to put all of it in your mouth because if you bite into it, it'll just fall apart. Yum Yum Yum. Don't take my word for it. Try it!!

Crazy Maki (Php 250)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Sonja's Cupcakes

I've been waiting for this place to open for a long time now. It definitely did not disappoint. We went there on their opening day. Obviously, things were still a little slow and most servers did not know to heart the cupcake variants yet but, I can cut them some slack for that. The cupcakes were really good although I admit they are quite expensive.

Chocolate Surprise
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I guess the surprise was the green ball toppings. The cake itself was ordinary but the icing was delicious!!
It's described as "A classic and fluffy yellow cake topped with either vanilla or chocolate buttercream".

Strawberry n' Cream
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This was great. The cake, the icing, the topping were all perfect together. Obviously, the batter used for making the cupcakes are all different from one another. Described as "Brown butter almond cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream icing."

Creme Brulee

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I didn't really know that this was considered a cupcake. Anyway, it was great in its dense chewy way. Described as "Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee with a sweetened Cupcake Short Crust".

Pinoy Don

I've tried the branch along Magallanes and that one was much much more presentable, well lit, conducive and cleaner. The branch in Podium is going to waste! It was so dirty! Believe you, me, it "doesn't belong to Podium" if you know what I mean. Sadly, these pictures were also taken from the Podium branch and well, see for yourself and you'll understand.

Tinapa Maki
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I wanted to try this again because I really liked it when I had it in the Magallanes branch. Sadly this was a great disappointment. The rice used was really hard. I think it was a leftover order from the lunch rush (we were there at 3pm). It was very saddening to have to eat it.

Tuna Maki
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Again, this was a disappointment. The suppposed crunchiness of the maki, was soggy and was very flour tasting. Really disliked this.

Longi-gyoza
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Decent I guess. But it was really greasy so I didn't enjoy it once again.

Would not come back. I was starving when we ate there. I was really disheartened to be served food like this at a time like that.

Goodies n' Sweets

I've been hearing about this place for a long time. Supposedly, their Mango Fantasia is the bestseller, but of the four times I've been there (at the GH and Podium branches), it was always not available. Maybe it's been discountinued? I don't know really. But the longer I wait, the more interested I'm becoming...

*We're not ordered all at the same time*

Apple Pie with Buttercream Sauce (Php 125)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I honestly think this is the best apple pie I've tasted so far. It has a really great crumble, a graham crust and the apples are so huge you don't have to 'look' for them in the pie. The buttercream sauce, though I knew were so bad for me, was a real great complement to the apple pie.

Triple Treat (Php 90)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Nothing special. I honestly think that Red Ribbon's Chocolate Mousse which we all know and love is way way better. It supposedly is a chcolate cake topped with choco and mocha mousse with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Banofee Pie (Php 105)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I think Starbuck's Banoffee Pie tastes and looks much better. It has a graham crust filled with chocolate ganoche and toffeee layered with sliced fresh bananas and topped with whipped cream.

Lemon Meringue (Php 105)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It was okay. The lemon was really sour which was great but I didn't like the kind of icing they used on the cake. Maybe they HAD to use that kind of icing to make it stand up like that.

Heaven n' Eggs

I've eaten here for at least about 5 times but this is the only instance I was able to take pictures. At my last visit which was aroung mid-September, I was surpirsed to find out that much of their menu has changed. A lot of the pancakes, waffles and omelettes I used to enjoy were now gone from the menu, instead, they had more full on "dinner" meals albeit disappointed, I decided to try them anyway.

Chicken Chowder
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
We had the chicken chowder which had a lot of stuff in it, but not really that much chicken...Oh well, it was good and soothing anyway..

Heaven's Fish and Chips Basket
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It was mediocre. I have this certain quirk wherein I don't eat any of the black parts of the fish, the stomach part I think, and this was loaded with that part. I really didn't enjoy it but I did enjoy trying out the different dips though. The basket came with three dips which were, bacon and blue cheese, crabmeat and sourcream and lastly the ny cream cheese (which was your basic plain cream cheese). I think I enjoyed the crabmeat and sourcream dip the most.

Wapple Wonder
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Finally, we had the Wapple Wonder as a sort of dessert. I can't really say anything more about the waffle. It was your plain waffle, the ball in the middle however was the interesting part. It was a ball of cornflakes (your basic Kellogs cornflakes) which I guess was soaked in syrup or honey thenwas hardened and voila! Served as a topping to the wafle already! I guess it was okay but I don't really think that it goes well with the waffle. Come on? How am I supposed to eat that with the waffle anyway? It also had some peach preserves/jam to go with it which I think was the only matching thing in this dish.
